Go to Top Festival of Humanity. Malvin Artley, our regular esoteric commentator, has returned at last to discuss the subtle meanings of the Full Moon in Sagittarius for 2008. This is Gemini's Full Moon, as the Moon is full in the sign opposing the Sun. This, the Gemini Solar Festival, is known as the Festival of Humanity. The full moon at Sagittarius 27º50' takes place on the 18th of June at 17:32 UT (12:32 PM EST in the US; 3:32 AM AEST on June 19 in Australia). What Malvin senses in the world right now is that there is what might be termed a large 'karmic ripening' for very many people. This sounds ominous, but in reality is a mighty opportunity. More on Cancer, the Crab Go to Top Tough Exterior... but a Softy Inside! The solstice once more takes us under the reign of creative, nurturing Cancer, the sign of deep emotions, family feeling and a moody, moon-ruled mind. Cancer is the fourth sign of the tropical zodiac. As we celebrate the ingress into Cancer, the cardinal water sign, we are focused on exploring the deep and fascinating world of astrology and relationships. Cancer the Crab, our featured Sign of the month has a sensual, caring and nurturesome approach to life. Cancerian people love to travel, but they are always deeply attached to home and family. Cancerians are very emotional, but they can seem to have a hard shell, which protects the tender inner world into which they can retire without any warning. Cancerians are moody, for they respond most readily to the phases of the Moon. They are adventurous and passionate lovers, but they have a strong sense of ownership, so flirts beware! Their inclination is to gather their friends and family about them and surround them with a thick, protective castle wall, for the Cancerian is naturally acquisitive and loves to build up wealth and security. Go to Top Armenia's Stonehenge? Armenia, located in the Caucasian Mountains on the Black Sea between Russia and Turkey, contains some of the most significant cultural examples of sacred geometry, as well as other remarkable prehistoric structures, such as the "stonehenge" at Karahundj near Sissian. This stone circle, now shown to be a prehistoric observatory, long predates Stonehenge in England. Ancient inscriptions found here may mark the birthplace of the Zodiac – and of Western Civilisation itself. Rick Ney explores their cultural significance. Read Karahundj: Armenia's Stonehenge.

Go to Top Lord of the Laggardly The Master Asperitus, Prince of the Paltry Prognostication, has raised more this month than a manful splutter against the evils of fate and the foolish foppery of a gaggle of ungracious godlings. Since the Master has been grappling for some weeks now in the grip of the ancient, icy fingers of Saturn, that is no mean feat. Bear in mind that the format has changed. Now read on and enjoy the latest transmission from Asperitus, Lord of the Laggardly and Oracle of Bitter Truth. Check out the spooky HorrorScopes from Asperitus, Oracle of Bitter Truth.

Go to Top Friday 13! Did you know there was a recognized phobia of Friday 13? It's called paraskevidekatriaphobia. Gosh, what a mouthful! A lot of people think Friday 13 is an unlucky day, but why?? To answer this, there are two or three questions we must first ask ourselves: Why Friday? And why the thirteenth? Most important of all, is it really unlucky? Insurance companies tell us that it really is unlucky for many, and historically it's been a doozy! Read more about Friday 13.

Go to Top Pluto Retrogrades Back to Sagittarius. Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, symbolises the forces of deep transformation in our lives. A slow-moving outer planet discovered in 1930, Pluto's influence is in general most clearly noticeable as it distinguishes one generation from the next – even though the IAU in their wisdom have reclassified it as a so-called "Dwarf Planet"! The period Pluto spends in each sign can vary from twelve years to thirty-two years, due to the eccentricity of its orbit. Pluto entered conservative Capricorn on January 26th, 2008, after spending some thirteen years in sassy Sagittarius, but Pluto's annual retrograde phase began on April 2nd, and on June 14th, Pluto revisits Sagittarius to tidy up matters from the past that have not yet been resolved. This phase lasts until November 28, 2008, when Pluto returns to Capricorn for a long stay before moving to Aquarius in January 2024. Read more about Pluto.

Go to Top The Solstice. The word "Solstice" in English derives from the Latin "Sol" + "systere", meaning "Sun" + "standing still". How can the Sun stand still? Well, as the Ancients discovered and calibrated using remarkable prehistoric observatories such as Stonehenge in the south-west of England, the Sun seems to travel (decline) ever so slightly southward in the ecliptic each day for some six months of the year, beginning in June. The Sun appears to stand still at the solsticial points over the Tropics for about three days, with the actual entry of the Sun into Cancer this year on June 21 00°00 UT (right on the stroke of midnight!), but bear in mind that the Solstice is a process, not an instant. The process is eternally repeated, though due to the phenomenon known as the precession of the Equinoxes, the actual starting point moves back slightly from year to year and this has given us the Ages of the World, such as the one we are soon to enter, the Age of Aquarius. Read more about the Solstice.

Go to Top St John the Baptist's Day. June 24, marking the birth of Saint John the Baptist, is St John's Day, a major Christian Feast marking the Solstice. It is one of the "quarter days", signalling the beginning of each quarter of the year and welcoming each of the four seasons. These holidays were communally celebrated during the "Age of Faith", reassigned from already established astrologically-based pagan festivities. More on St John the Baptist's Day.

Go to Top Uranus Retrograde. Just after midnight UT on June 27, 2008, Uranus turns retrograde in Pisces. Some time back, our brilliant astrologer Neil Giles wrote an article on the transit of Uranus through Pisces, entitled Revolution in the Sign of the Seeker. An extraordinary era is unfolding, one where we may see ourselves at our best and worst. Uranus in Pisces brings an upliftment of the spirit through the call of new paths and beliefs. The spiritual or creative search will be paramount, as surges of energy and enthusiasm explode outward into our daily lives. Individuals and groups will break from the mainstream and find their destiny in new climes, both inner and outer. But, the mix of Uranus and Pisces is an odd one. As Uranus urges revelation, change and the future, Pisces internalizes, keeps secrets and remembers the past. Thus, there will be an interchange of alternating current between the hidden and the known, with acceleration and nostalgia, shock and then flow, start and then stop as the rhythms unexpectedly cross. More on Uranus in Pisces.

Go to Top Neptune Retrograde. On May 26, 2008, Neptune in Aquarius turns retrograde within minutes of Mercury turning retro in Gemini. Some time back, Ian Thurnwald, one of the founders of Astrology on the Web, wrote an article on Neptune in Aquarius, so we are bringing it forward again. The principle of Neptune is the dissolution of boundaries, as such it represents any energy or any person or any state of mind which does this. High Neptunian states of mind include: receptivity, inspiration, spirituality. People operating at this level will display: sympathetic understanding, charity, and self-sacrifice. The lowest include: impressionability, delusion, illusion. People operating at this level will display: confusion, deception, and paranoia. Neptunian events are usually chaotic in nature and often bring misery, grief, and bereavement in their wake. This mighty force usually operates beneath the surface, but can be brought into the forefront of consciousness when affected by significant transits from the visible planets – as it has been recently in the oil crisis and the floods, hurricanes and storms that have so grievously affected certain parts of the world. More on Neptune in Aquarius.

Gemini, the Twins Go to Top Two Way Street?? Glorious Gemini, the sign of communication, gossip and a wicked sense of fun, is the third sign of the tropical zodiac. As we celebrate the ingress into Gemini, the mutable air sign on May 20, we are focused on exploring the deep and fascinating world of astrology and relationships. Gemini, the Twins, our featured Sign of the month has a lively, vivacious and witty approach to life. Gemini people love to enjoy life to the full, but they are always on the lookout for anything new and different.
Geminians are wonderfully exciting people, who are usually the life of the party. Geminians are mercurial and all too easily bored, but a charming and witty manner lets them get away with just about anything, short of murder! This said, they are really rather more interested in talking about it than in actually doing it, if the truth be known. Gemini loves to talk about it, so the way to the Geminian heart is through the head. Their inclination is to express their emotions in words, filtering their feelings through their intellect. Read about Gemini and all the other signs right here on our website: click here.

Go to Top Mercury Retrograde. Mercury enters Gemini, his own sign, on May 2, 2008, in a stressful square aspect to stern Saturn, the Great Taskmaster. Saturn turns direct on this day (hooray!), after months of very difficult retrograde motion in critical Virgo. What exactly will you do with the information, ideas, or methods that come your way now? Something may seem very interesting and even valuable, but trying to use or apply it brings up difficulties or restrictions of one kind or another. So frustrating! And organization or planning is hampered by too much perfectionism, or lack of time. Matters are further complicated later in the month, when, at 15:49 UT (Universal Time), on Monday, May 26th, 2008, Mercury the cosmic trickster turns retrograde in Gemini, the sign of the Twins, sending communications, travel, appointments, mail and the www into a general snarlup! This awkward period begins a few days before the actual turning point (as Mercury slows) and lasts for three weeks or so, until June 19, when the Winged Messenger reaches his direct station. At this time he halts and begins his return to direct motion through the zodiac. Mercury retrograde gives rise to personal misunderstandings; flawed, disrupted, or delayed communications, negotiations and trade; glitches and breakdowns with phones, computers, cars, buses, and trains. This period brings travel snafus and missed appointments of all kinds. Documents can go astray. Be sure to carry a diary and refer to it often. Check out Mercury Retrograde.

Go to Top Blue Moon. There are two Full Moons in Scorpio in 2008, the first on April 20 and the second on May 20. Some of you may have been wondering which Moon is the Wesak Moon, as here we have two "Taurus Moons", which are Full Moons in Scorpio. Well, the first Full Moon in May is defined as the Wesak Moon, celebrating the birth, enlightenment and ascension of Gautama the Buddha, so to set our minds at rest, we can clearly say it's the May Moon, not the April one. Richard Giles, astrologer and feng shui consultant, has been busy researching the rare phenomenon known as the Blue Moon. He explains that a Blue Moon is when a Full Moon occurs twice in the same zodiacal sign in a single year, not just in the same calendar month, as is often put about in the media. If the two Full Moons are not in the same astrological sign, Richard argues that they are not truly "Blue". This is a fascinating story and one that will make interesting dinner conversation! More on the Blue Moon.

Go to Top Moon Wobble? In case you hadn't noticed, the world has been undergoing a massive transformation in past weeks. The devastation wrought by the earthquake in Sichuan province of China which has killed thousands, the horrors of Cyclone Nargis in Burma (Myanmar) which has slaughtered tens of thousands and left millions homeless, deadly tornados in the USA, bombings in the Middle East and so on have leapt onto the front pages, our TV screens, and into the blogosphere. There are a number of astrological pointers, including the stations of Saturn and Jupiter, the two Great Chronocrators, with Neptune and Mercury about to turn retrograde, but the significant trigger might well be the stressful square aspect of the Sun to the Moon's Nodes on May 13. This phenomenon is known as a Moon Wobble. Read more on the Moon Wobble.

Go to Top Attitude of Gratitude. Stephen Kane, our very own Energy Doctor has been busy raising our consciousness levels, by focusing his intent. Don't let the hard times get you down; develop your Fortune Energies instead! The Doc says that everyone would like a relatively carefree life, unburdened by the downs and always on the up. And, of course, many people dedicate themselves to experiencing as much pleasure as they can in the time available to them. But living with intent – which is the bedrock of cultivating a stable, whole body, higher awareness – slowly breeds a different relationship with one's life. Read more from the Energy Doc on Living With Intent, through an attitude of gratitude.

Go to Top Jupiter Turns Retrograde. Retrograde motion is a peculiar, cyclic cosmic phenomenon, when planets in the heavens appear to halt their forward motion through the zodiac, pause, then start moving backwards. Jupiter, the head honcho of the planetary spheres, turns retro on May 9, 2008. This is technically speaking a Retrograde Station (when the planet seems to halt before moving backwards through the zodiac). Saturn and Jupiter are the Great Chronocrators, or Time Lords of our planetary system, controlling the major cycles of life and events. Saturn has just turned direct, making this a time of significant power, so since Jupiter too is at his station it's ideal for making or implementing long-term decisions, as both of the Time Lords are affected. It's interesting that Carelli says this degree is symbolised by "A Man on a Sailing Ship in the Middle of the Ocean" and the sabian symbol is "A Lion Tamer Displays His Skill And Character". Evidently this degree denotes adventure and risk-taking, but move with care as overconfidence is Jupiter's downfall and Saturn requires structure. Last year I discussed the potential for Jupiter in Capricorn, so now, as Jupiter turns retrograde until September 2008, it's a good time to restructure the potential. Look back on how Jupiter in Capricorn affects your sign and decide what to do to resolve issues that have arisen from the past that affect your future. I have placed a fabulous video on our Jupiter page, so turn on your speakers to hear the music of Jupiter's movement through the spheres as recorded by NASA!

|

Go to Top Saturn Turns Direct. In May there are a number of planetary switcheroos. Pluto and Saturn are already retrograde, but on May 3, Saturn turns direct in the second degree of Virgo. This is technically speaking a Direct Station (when the planet seems to halt before moving forward through the zodiac again). It is a time of significant power, when matters to do with the energies of planet, house and sign can be favourably activated. Get cracking on your planner, for the few days either side of this time are ideal for making or implementing long-term decisions, as Saturn is in it for the long haul. It's interesting that this degree is cool and intelligent, with a methodical, scientific and military gift. The sabian symbol is "A Large White Cross Dominates The Landscape", but it seems to me that the "Cross" is just as much an electronic transmission tower! Last year Mary Maclean discussed the potential for Saturn in Virgo, so now, as Saturn returns to direct motion almost at the beginning again, it's worth another look at her article. Check out how Saturn in Virgo fits to your chart and see how it's panning out. It's smart to make your plans according to Saturn's placement, but bear in mind that the complete release of the retro phase is not until early August 2008.

Go to Top Maria Vaiano is now Maria DeSimone. Neil and I have lately been overwhelmed with work and other Saturnine responsibilities, but we have been fortunate on Astrology on the Web that we discovered the lovely Maria Vaiano, an astrologer of talent, charm and truly Taurean beauty! Maria has been writing our daily horoscopes for several months now. However, her husband (the peculiar Mr Vaiano) has somehow lost his marbles – and is filing for divorce. Ugh. Our sympathies go out to Maria and her children in this testing time. So now Maria has returned to her original name of Maria DeSimone, which has a deliciously fin de siècle resonance. To celebrate, we have given the daily horoscope pages a bit of a makeover. Quite a rebranding! Check out Maria's daily forecasts which have just been updated for May.

|

Go to Top Mother's Day. May 11, 2008 is Mother's Day, the second Sunday in May, when we all honour our Mums. But did you know that the earliest known tributes to mothers date back to the annual spring festival the Ancient Greeks dedicated to the great goddess Rhea, wife of Cronus and mother of the Olympians. These celebrations were mirrored in the offerings ancient Romans made to the Great Mother Goddess, Cybele. Ceremonies in her honour began some 250 years before the birth of Christ. What better day could we pick for sending our healing prayers and energy to Mother Earth, the Great Mother that nurtures us all? Check out Mother's Day.

Go to Top Oracle of Bitter Truth The Master Asperitus has by now almost recovered from his terminal ennui, but has been stricken on his couch of woe with the evils of modern life. This has led to his restructuring his monthly forecasts, as you will see when you go there if you dare. The authorities in heaven are always falling victim to the malicious machinations of a gaggle of gruesome godlings, and The Master Asperitus, purveyor of perverse prognostications, is by no means immune as he flees to the shelter of a lavatory in Nhill, but then nor are the pitiful peasants who fall victim to the Zodiac Animals in the sublunary realm (that's you – ed.). Tis Manic May, my friends, or almost. Check out the fearful monthly HorrorScopes from Asperitus, Oracle of Bitter Truth.

Taurus, the Bull Go to Top The Blazing Bull! Practical, reliable Taureans are great lovers of sensual pleasures, although they do tend to be rather stubborn, possessive and conservative. Firmly anchored in the material world, they have a fine grasp of what is needed in order to lead the good life. Taurus, the Bull, our featured Sign of the month is attractive and magnetic. Taureans have personal magnetism and are able to draw others into their circle, rather than actively seeking them out. In other words, while they are very fond of members of the opposite sex, they prefer to be courted. Read about Taurus and all the other signs right here on our website: click here.

Go to Top May Day. The merry month of May is nearly here! Did you know that across Europe in pagan times, May Day (May 1) was a festival of fertility complete with singing, dancing and orgiastic abandon? Also known as Beltaine (Bealtaine, the Irish name for May), these wild rites were meant to bring fertile blessings from the local spirits to the community for the coming year! Nowadays there's a political May Day and bank holiday. Guns and Roses.. Check out May Day.

Go to Top No More Allergy. Stephen Kane, our very own Energy Doctor has sent us another trump card from his casebook. An old acquaintance of mine, Tom Birkeland, has written in to praise the Energy Doc for clearing his devastating fish allergy. Stephen Kane explains that allergies are caused by damage to the body's energetic system; it's a matter of which area of the energy body is being affected and to what depth... Read more from the Energy Doc on No More Allergy.

Go to Top Energy Egg Eliminates Foreign Energies. In order to understand how the Energy Egg works, we first have to consider the subtle energies, known in the East as "chi", "qi", or "ki", that underpin our ability to function in every possible way. Your energy field fills a large ovoid space reaching from below your feet to as high as you can reach above your head. Your energy body occupies the same space as your physical body. The chakras of your energy body are designed to pick up or sense any signal that enters your energy field. Although Western scientific instruments have yet to be developed that can measure these energies they have, nevertheless, been observed, measured and employed within many cultures over thousands of years. Read more from the Energy Doc on the Energy Egg Advances.

Go to Top April 13: Vedic New Year! As we have discussed before on this site, we use the tropical zodiac of the seasons, but Indian astrologers use the sidereal zodiac of the fixed stars. Now, according to Indian Vedic Astrology, the New Year starts when the Sun enters the first sign and the natural first house of the sidereal zodiac – and this year marks a very potent, once-in-a-thousand year opportunity to shed old karma and to begin anew. We live in a star system where everything revolves around the Sun. Sidereal and Vedic astrologers believe that the life-supplying energy is at its maximum when the Sun is in sidereal Aries, between April 13 and May 14. Aries is the first sign in the Zodiac and represents the beginning. April 13 will therefore be a day of great significance, when great things can be achieved! Read more on April 13: Vedic New Year 2008.

Go to Top Ram Navami. Malini Gupta, our Indian correspondent from Delhi, tells us that Ram Navami, marking the birthday of Lord Rama, falls on the ninth day of the waxing moon in the month of Chiatra. This day is also observed as the marriage day of Rama and Sita, the stars of the epic poem, Ramayana. Rama is one of the main focal points of worship in the subcontinent and among Indian people throughout the world. Ramrajya (the reign of Rama) has become synonymous with a period of peace and prosperity. This year, Ram Navami will be celebrated on Sunday, 13th April 2008, which is the very auspicious day of the Vedic New Year. Read more on Ram Navami.

Go to Top Hidden Magic of Gems We, as human beings, receive vital rays – subtle cosmic radiation from planets that influence our attitudes, behaviour, and environment. This planetary radiation has a definite impact on our ever-changing psychological dispositions. Stones and gems, coming into direct contact with the skin, exercise an electromagnetic influence over our cells. In honour of this auspicious time of the Vedic New Year, we thought we'd rerun the article by our own Vedic astrologer, Uma Shankar Shukla, where he explores the ways in which our lives can be affected by the subtle power of stones. Check out the Hidden Magic of Gems.

Go to Top Asperitus Returns! Asperitus, the Oracle of Bitter Truth, has been off the air in recent months, due to a near-fatal case of terminal ennui, combined with serial impecuniousness. However, his followers will be pleased to learn that we have prevailed upon him to give us more of his pusilanimous prognostications, though in a suitably smaller dose than usual. Hurrah! But be sure to take an aspirin first, or perhaps a dose of belladonna. Check out the latest monthly HorrorScopes from Asperitus, Oracle of Bitter Truth.

Go to Top Are you a Fool... or a Fish??! It's a great day for fun and trickery (at least up to midday) but did you know the festival of the April Fool (April 1st) is celebrated throughout most of Europe and the former colonial outposts of European rule – and in France they call it the April Fish! It is an ancient festival, deriving from pre-historic times, which has been traditionally dedicated to Venus. The Fool is also the pivotal point in the Tarot pack, as the journey through the major arcana can be construed as the journey from folly to wisdom. And back again, as Bilbo Baggins might have said... Read more on The April Fool.

Go to Top The Electrical Dance of Uranus and Pluto. Historical cycles' beginnings and endings are very hard to spot from our narrow day-to-day perspective. From an astrologer's viewpoint, these cycles' directions are not always clear until afterwards. One such influential cycle is that of two of the outer planets, Uranus and Pluto. The electrical dance of revolutionary Uranus and transformative Pluto outlines revolutionary phases in the development of human consciousness on a global scale. We are soon to enter the next stage of this cosmic quadrille. Richard Giles examines the trends. More on The Electrical Dance of Uranus and Pluto

Go to Top Stand with the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan people. You must have heard about the violent oppression and murder of Tibetans by the Chinese authorities (in the lead-up to the Olympic Games in Beijing this year!). I just signed an urgent petition calling on the Chinese government to respect human rights in Tibet and dialogue with the Dalai Lama. This is really important, and I thought you might want to take action: Stand with Tibet – Support the Dalai Lama! After nearly 50 years of Chinese rule, the Tibetans are sending out a global cry for change. Violence is spreading across Tibet and neighbouring regions, and the Chinese regime is right now making a crucial choice between tougher crackdown or dialogue. President Hu Jintao needs to hear that 'Made in China' exports and the upcoming Olympics in Beijing will have the support of the world's people only if he chooses dialogue. But it will take an avalanche of global people power to get his attention. Click below to sign the petition – in just 6 days, the campaign is almost 90% of the way to the goal of 1 million signatures! Click here to Stand with Tibet!

Go to Top More on Aries, the RamThe Raging Ram! Aggressive Aries, the sign of eager self-assertion, leadership and pioneering action, is the first sign of the tropical zodiac. As we celebrate the ingress into fiery Aries, the cardinal fire sign, we are focused on exploring the deep and fascinating world of astrology and relationships. Aries, the Ram, our featured Sign of the month has a dynamic and lively personality. Aries people love to achieve and to break new ground, especially in relationships and sexuality. Born leaders, they are outgoing, yet often profoundly sensual. Ariens always need a challenge, for they are easily bored and need variety. Sometimes accused of always thinking the grass is greener on the other side of the hill, Ariens nevertheless make great comrades in arms and are serious fun! They make exciting and willing sexual partners, so long as you can keep them guessing. Read about Aries and all the other signs right here on our website: click here.

Go to Top The Sunlight Spear. Mike Nichols, a leading figure in the Pagan Movement, presents an alternative view of Lady Day, arguing that this holiday (which formerly marked New Year's Day) is an organic and natural celebration of seasonal change at the Equinox, transplanted into the Christian calendar. Once again, night and day stand in perfect balance, with the powers of light on the ascendancy. The God of Light now wins a victory over his twin, the God of Darkness. Read more on The Sunlight Spear.

Go to Top Energy Egg Update. Just as the Energy Egg Environmental Stress Eliminator keeps improving, so the US$$$ keeps dropping! Ugh. The prices on the Energy Egg, the Wealth Egg and the Loving Relationships Egg have all gone up, due to the USD falling against the Euro (of course, it's still the same price in Euros). Thanks, GWB! However, it's still definitely worth the investment, as it's very inexpensive for what it does. So get your body, mind and spirit back in tune in a flash! The Energy Egg protects us while we're swimming in this electronic soup. Check out the Energy Egg.

Go to Top Lady Day. March 25 in the Christian Calendar celebrates the Annunciation of the Virgin, or Lady Day, a major Christian Feast set at the Equinox. It celebrates the immaculate conception of Jesus by the Blessed Virgin Mary, announced to her by the Archangel Gabriel. This is the first of the four traditional quarter days, signalling the beginning of each quarter of the year and welcoming each of the four seasons. These holidays were communally celebrated during the "Age of Faith", reassigned from already established astrologically-based pagan festivities. Read more on Lady Day.

Go to Top God's Firmament and the Earthquake. Nicola Tesla (10 July 1856 – 7 January 1943), the scientist who discovered Alternating Current, understood the ether and had time to investigate its effects in our world. Modern-day scientists are rediscovering what Tesla understood. The staggering amount of energy in the ether has scientists in awe. The interactive energy of the ether is known today as “Zero Point Energy” or ZPE. Larry A. Park, a senior computer engineer and holder of patents for earthquake prediction, explains how modern science has taken a wrong turn on the ether. Read more on God's Firmament and the Earthquake.

Go to Top Easter. This year, Easter Sunday falls on March 23, 2008. This time, when Jesus Christ is believed to have died on the Cross, then risen from the dead, is the central focus of Christianity, but there is more to Easter than meets the eye! Many ancient religions also celebrated the death and resurrection of their god. Much of the symbolism associated with these earlier stories has been incorporated into the Christian Festivity. Read more on Easter.

|

Go to Top The Equinox. The Vernal Equinox is the time when the Sun reaches the balancing point in its path through the zodiac. It marks the beginning of the new astrological year, as the Sun enters the first degree of Aries, the Ram. It happens in 2008 on March 20 (05:49 UT – but bear in mind that the Equinox is a day and a night, a phase not a moment), marked in the Christian Calendar by the Festival of the Annunciation of the Virgin (Lady Day) on March 25. This major calendrical event is the focus of religious and social festivities in all cultures, and is the key to the timing of Easter. Read more on the The Equinox.
